Floating

Floating away,

Day after day,

Waves wash over,

The land never gets closer.

*

Cannot sink,

Cannot swim,

Can only think

Of the ocean's next whim.

*

Carried by the tide

Carried by every wave,

Already nothing left inside,

Nothing left to save.

*

The tide surges back and forth,

First south, then north,

It gets closer - the shore,

Can almost reach

The inviting beach

Trying to swim some more.

But the tide turns

And all the water returns.

*

Floating away again,

Away from land,

Back to the pain...

Nothing left to understand.

*

Repeated - over and over, nobody could stay sane.

Floating on an expanse of blue and grey.

The wind whips up the waves - it's raining again.

Just floating... floating away.
